Our management team collectively represents over 150 years of industry experience. On average, our team members have called DJJ home for more than 25 years.
Craig Feldman joined DJJ in 1986. He began his career as a Brokerage Representative and then served as District Manager of DJJ’s Salt Lake City brokerage office. He then assumed his role as Commercial Vice President at Western Metals Recycling (WMR) and later served as President of WMR. He was a member of the SHV Operational Staff in The Netherlands from 2005 until his 2007 appointment as Executive Vice President, Recycling Operations. He was promoted to President in 2013. He was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Nucor Corporation when DJJ became part of Nucor in 2008. In 2018, Mr. Feldman was promoted to Executive Vice President of Nucor.
Mr. Feldman holds a B.A. degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Senior Vice President, Employee Services
Karen Arnold has 30 years of leadership experience in the Human Resources field. She joined Galamba Metals in Kansas City in 2006 as the Human Resources Director and became part of the DJJ family in 2008 with the acquisition of Galamba, which was renamed Advantage Metals Recycling. She was promoted to Corporate Director of Training & Development for DJJ in 2012 and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Employee Services in 2013.
Ms. Arnold holds a B.A. degree from Southern Illinois University and earned her M.A. at Webster University.
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Chris Bedell joined the Company in 1990, serving in an engineering capacity before leaving to attend law school in 1992. In 1996, he returned to The David J. Joseph Company as Director of Environmental and Safety Services, then served as Vice President. In 2002, Mr. Bedell was promoted to Vice President and General Counsel for the Company.
Mr. Bedell holds a B.S.E. degree from Duke University and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati. He is also a registered Professional Engineer.
Senior Vice President, Finance
Kelly Poellein joined The David J. Joseph Company in 2002 as a Controller supporting both DJJ Corporate Accounting and Brokerage & Services. She was promoted to Vice President, Finance for Brokerage & Services in 2005. In 2018, Ms. Poellein was appointed to Senior Vice President, Finance.
Prior to joining DJJ, Ms. Poellein was an audit manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms. Poellein holds a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Executive Vice President, Brokerage and Services
Mark Schaefer joined The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ) in 1985. He has served in a variety of roles including a Brokerage Representative and District Manager in the ferrous trading business, Vice President of Logistic Services, and President of U-Pull & Pay (UPAP), DJJ’s self-serve auto parts business. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2013. He was appointed General Manager of Nucor Corporation in 2013. In 2018, Mr. Schaefer was appointed to Executive Vice President, Brokerage & Services.
Mr. Schaefer is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and earned his MBA from Denver University.
Executive Vice President, Recycling Group
David Steigerwald joined DJJ in 1998 and held various financial roles in the Corporate and Brokerage Groups before moving to Salt Lake City in 2002 as Vice President, Finance for Western Metals Recycling. In 2008, he returned to Cincinnati when he was promoted to Vice President, Finance for DJJ’s Recycling Group. He was promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and was appointed General Manager of Nucor Corporation in 2014. In 2018, Mr. Steigerwald was appointed to Executive Vice President, Recycling Group.
Prior to joining DJJ, Mr. Steigerwald worked at Coopers & Lybrand. he holds a B.S. degree in Finance and Accounting from Miami University in Oxford Ohio.
