DJJ has long been involved in the recycling business. In 2006, DJJ expanded into self-serve, automobile
parts recycling, opening U-Pull-&-Pay (UPAP) retail stores. Customers pay a minimal entrance fee, then use their own tools to pull the auto parts they need. UPAP’s parts are sold at a fraction of the cost of typical Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) replacement parts.
The UPAP yard is stocked by buying 6-13 year old vehicles from towing companies, insurance companies, individuals, or at auctions. The inventory is turned regularly.
All UPAP stores are environmentally sound and fully comply with EPA regulations. Our commitment to the environment is unparalleled in the industry. All fluids are emptied from the vehicles, using UPAP’s state-of-the-art draining system, which tips the car in every direction to ensure maximum removal of fluids. Once the autos have been drained of their fluids, they are placed on stands for the public to
remove needed body parts, drive train components, or other auto accessories for purchase. All fluids, CFCs and mercury switches are reused, resold, or recycled. |
After customers have removed many of the car parts, the harvested auto hulks are crushed and sold to shredding yards.
This U-Pull-&-Pay concept was developed in the early 1980’s and has been extremely successful in all regions of the U.S.
