DJJ AND FERROUS PROCESSING CREATE GEMINI A FULL-SERVICE INDUSTRIAL SCRAP RECYCLER

CINCINNATI, OHIO and DETROIT, MICHIGAN, March 27--The David J. Joseph Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ferrous Processing & Trading Co., Detroit, Michigan, announce the formation of a joint venture, Gemini Recycling Group LLC (Gemini), which will provide scrap management services for targeted industrial companies. GEMINI will be based in the Detroit area.

Gemini will offer complete scrap management services for local, regional, and global industrial companies of all sizes, providing processing, transportation, and marketing for facilities that generate scrap as a byproduct of their industrial operations. John P. Suchon, formerly Manager of International Ferrous Trading for The David J. Joseph Company, will be Vice President & General Manager of Gemini.

Gemini draws from The David J. Joseph Company’s worldwide marketing, logistics, and information systems expertise and from the operating experience of the Midwest’s most innovative, and one of the region’s largest, scrap metal processors -- Ferrous Processing & Trading Co. "Gemini will focus on the development of opportunities to assist industry with state-of-the-art metal scrap recycling services that are fully compliant with the most stringent environmental standards," according to Suchon.

Ferrous Processing & Trading (FPT) operates 10 scrap metal processing facilities in the United States and Canada. FPT processes more than 2.75 million tons of scrap annually. A leader in scrap recycling for over 75 years, FPT has a proven track record of value-added process design, product quality, and environmental consciousness. FPT has been awarded ISO 9001, QS 9000, and Ford Motor Company’s Q-1 certification and is in pursuit of ISO 14000, the environmental management "gold standard." The company has pioneered use of sophisticated SPC-based systems in scrap processing, which permit it to deliver scrap products consistent with a genuine program of total quality management.

With 13 domestic and international trading offices and over 30 scrap processing and mill service facilities, The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ) offers unparalleled experience in scrap metal marketing and distribution and leads the industry in the application of information technology. On-line, real-time transaction information is provided to its suppliers and customers via ScrapConnect, a packet of proprietary, secure, Internet-based applications. The world’s largest scrap company, DJJ serves scrap producers and consumers throughout North America and with its sister company, Thyssen Sonnenberg Recycling, based in Duisburg, Germany, is active in international markets as well. The company was founded in 1885 and is recognized throughout the industry for its reliability, integrity, and financial strength.
