Superfund Recycling Equity Act

On November 29, 1999, President Clinton signed into law the Superfund Recycling Equity Act (Pub. Law 106-113). This law clarifies Superfund to state that recycling is not disposal and shipping for recycling is not arranging for disposal.

Compliance with the new law imposes some additional requirements on those who sell scrap for recycling. This includes ensuring that the companies who receive scrap from The David J. Joseph Company are in compliance with substantive provisions of environmental laws. [See 42 U.S.C.A. §127(c)(5)] The Company has performed a survey of its customers as part of its own compliance initiative.

A copy of the Superfund Recycling Equity Act (in .pdf document format) is provided below for those who may wish to study and further their understanding of it.

Little did Joseph Joseph know that the small scrap business he began in 1885 would grow into a leading scrap broker and processor 125 years later! DJJ continues to build our reputation on the same cornerstones as our founder: integrity, reliability, innovation and quality.
