On January 30, 2012, Western Metals Recycling (WMR), wholly owned by The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ), a Cincinnati-based subsidiary of Nucor Corporation, purchased the assets and business of Van Gundy’s AMPCO. Van Gundy’s operates a full service ferrous and nonferrous recycling facility at 645 4th Avenue, Grand Junction, Colorado.
The Van Gundy recycling facility offers state-of-the-art customer service technology, and its processing activities include shearing, baling, sorting ferrous and nonferrous scrap. Van Gundy’s AMPCO has been servicing retail, industrial, and commercial accounts in the Grand Junction area since 1929.
This expansion demonstrates one more step toward helping Nucor and The David J. Joseph Company achieve their long term goal of strengthening our core recycling business.
Founded in 1885, DJJ is one of the largest scrap brokers/processors in the United States providing scrap brokerage, recycling and transportation services.
